Grasso is an independently-owned, family-run restaurant on DeanStreet, in the heart of Soho, Central London. The dish, ‘Mom’s spaghetti’ is made using the very same recipe handed down from my grandmother, and something we’d eat on special occasions when growing up. Keep your eyes peeled around the restaurant for photos us eating them as children. After a long walk around Soho Square, go to this restaurant and have a rest here. You can try good Pepperoni, meatballs and spaghetti. The chef at this place cooks tasty tiramisu and good cheesecakes.
London
The comforting Italian-American dishes are the kind your mum might have made to cheer you up after a disastrous maths test. It’s not perfect—the pomidori sauces are too sweet and the salads are 90% dressing and 10% lettuce. If you’re looking for exceptional Italian food, look away now. But if you want a fun, easygoing restaurant serving chicken road food that’ll fill you up and leave you more comforted than a warm, weighted blanket, go here.
Grasso
- There is a strange offshoot room that is small and cold, lit by green LED strip lights.
- If you’re rolling with a group, get this and the penne alla vodka and prepare to monopolise both in a way you won’t be proud of.
- This is probably the most amount of braised, soft meat we’ve ever had in a pasta dish.
- The sauce is pretty one note, and that note is sweet.

Grasso is like that friend who you worry about introducing to your other friends. The New York Italian-American spot in Soho does things that annoy you, occasionally makes you cringe, and can be hard to defend—but you always have a good time when you hang out together. There are definitely better pastas out there, but we can’t shake the memory of the outrageous XXL plates of penne alla vodka here. Because sometimes you don’t want what’s right, you want what feels good—and eating at Grasso feels pretty great. Founded by Seanie Grasso, whose mum’s family went from Syracuse in Sicily to NYC to London, Grasso in Soho is a proper, family-run Italian-American joint. Grasso also slings pizzas, made with an in-house two-day dough technique, with toppings like vodka sauce, meatballs, fennel sausage and eggplant parm. Add on a couple of Brooklyn’s G&Ts or Cherry Coke Long Island Iced Teas and you’ve got yourself a good time. This page may contain sensitive or adult content that’s not for everyone.

Our menu is focused on home-style cooking, and our pasta sauces are all prepared by hand and in-house, while our meatballs are made to a third-generation family recipe. This is probably the most amount of braised, soft meat we’ve ever had in a pasta dish. We love the addition of salty, briny anchovy to balance all the richness too. If you’re rolling with a group, get this and the penne alla vodka and prepare to monopolise both in a way you won’t be proud of.
Pizzas are to order, with 48-hour fermented dough, which is topped with both fresh and imported Italian ingredients. To accompany, we’ve hand-picked a selection of wines, and offer signature cocktails, draught beer, and a range of no and low-alcohol options. Post only once per day, don’t post the same image repeatedly, don’t advertise/spam on other peoples posts.

The sauce is pretty one note, and that note is sweet. While we’d be thrilled if our mums fed us these when we were little, our adult selves need something a little more. You must be a seller/content creator to post in our subreddit. Exhibitionist, posting for fun, hook up posting or seeking arrangements posters are not permitted. If the post title does not contain the correct TikTok username of the girl in the video, the post will be deleted. We serve Italian American classics, pasta, made-to-order pizza, starters and desserts which are all made in-house.
So ask for one of the booths by the kitchen instead, next to the adorable photos of the owners eating spaghetti in their nappies (when they were toddlers). As you arrive, several versions of yourself reflected in a chandelier greet you, and later, after fishbowl-sized Aperol spritzes, you’ll stumble upon the disco-themed toilets. Personally, it warms our cold little London hearts. We offer a full range of low and no alcohol drinks, while our experienced bartenders are on hand to prepare classic and signature house cocktails.
The dough is nice and tangy with some pleasing charred bubbles around the edge. We liked the toppings on the New New Yorker but wish the confit garlic was less of a wallflower. They aren’t the best pizzas in London, but they’d be perfectly fine to split among a group (while also ordering the pasta).

“From New Jersey – this place hit home for me. Food was so amazing and big portions.”
And to accompany the food, we’ve hand-picked a selection ofwines, offer signature cocktails, draught beer, and a range of noand low-alcohol options. We work closely with our suppliers, receiving daily deliveries of fresh and imported ingredients. Our pizzas are prepared with our own 48-hour fermented dough, ensuring crispy yet fluffy goodness. Our pasta sauces are made by hand, daily, and my mother prepares the desserts every morning — so make sure you give them a go too. The pizzas at Grasso are a little bit underrated.
Visit this place and have delicious wine or good negroni. The main dining room is where you’ll have the most fun. Laid-back, smiley servers dispatch laminated, wipe-clean menus, and later, tactfully hang back while you have a mozzarella stick cheese pull moment. A couple getting cuddly over a plate of meatballs look like they could go full Lady and the Tramp at any moment. And a loud birthday party, ordering wine before they’ve even sat down, don’t get any side-eye. There is a strange offshoot room that is small and cold, lit by green LED strip lights.
