Not long ago, a new text project dedicated to cinema and TV series appeared on the pages of Stopgeym. At first I was a little happy, but then I read it… and became despondent.
Let’s say that the author concentrates on topics that are more interesting to him, it can be understood – the author’s column is still. Not the latest news (for example, Gambit became a long-term construction project a year ago, or even more) – is also attributed to the peculiarities of the format. But I cannot forgive the inaccuracies in wording, especially in the section about numbers.
So here it is. Many letters on the same topic. News from the world of cinema and TV series. True, there will be no series today – there is little news about them in the summer. <\/p>\n

For starters, numbers. Although Suicide Squad is collecting good money (250 million at the American box office + 310 million in other countries), it may well not be enough to pay for the project. Although the stated budget is "only" $175 million, rumors have it that with reshoots it’s closer to $250 million, and such rumors are usually true. Add to this a rather large advertising budget, and it turns out that to break even, you need about 800 million in global receipts, which is already unattainable for the Squad – there are only 4 premieres left: Austria, Germany, Greece and Japan, which together will give at best 50 million. There will be no Chinese distribution, and in other countries the film’s box office is rapidly falling.
Whether there will be a sequel depends solely on Warner’s desire to continue playing with the creation of a cinematic universe. Fees do not guarantee it at all. <\/p>\n

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 – budget $135 million, worldwide box office $239 million
One film that didn’t fail in six months. Add to this the not-so-pleasant box office of the $185 million Star Trek: Infinity and the miserably failed Ben-Hur (11 million in the US and Canada in the first weekend for a $100 million epic is a failure), and it turns out that the studio is desperately short of money. So much so that even the fee to the main person of a consistently profitable franchise wants to be reduced. <\/p>\n

Okay, let’s talk about China now. Two Russian films were released in China and collected. Fine?
Third and sixth place on the premiere weekend are not very promising. It’s better than nothing, really. And considering the fact that the premiere was announced about a week before, and there was no advertising campaign, that\u2019s also not bad. Well, suddenly the sundress will be good..
And what difference does it make if Jason Bourne and the fifth Ice Age are released in China on Tuesday, which between them will take up more than 70% of the sessions, while our films will have 1-2% each?. The final collections will not differ much from those accumulated over the past four days.
So it turns out that the next release of Russian cinema in China turned out to be unproductive again. <\/p>\n
